Overview
Ghana blazed the trail as the first country to inaugurate its national Chapter of the College, with 43 Foundation Fellows inducted on 15th April 2019. The Accra meeting of the Steering Board in September 2018 produced the Work Plan that operationalised the College Constitution. Ghana continues to play a leading role in training and examination delivery across the sub-region.

Prof Samuel Essien-Baidoo, Ph.D, FWAPCMLS, LLM
Chairman (Ghana)
Prof. Samuel Essien-Baidoo is an Associate Professor in Laboratory Medicine and a Fellow of the West African Postgraduate College of Medical Laboratory Science, with a background in Health Law and Ethics. His research focuses on examining the complex interplay between natural and artificial factors that contribute to adverse health outcomes, particularly in the context of infectious and non-infectious diseases. Administratively, he has a wealth of experience. Serving as the founding Head of the Department of Medical Laboratory Science and held many other positions at my university. He is greatly committed to community service and volunteer work. He has actively engaged in various initiatives, including livelihood empowerment, environmental sanitation, waste management, and efforts to combat sexual and gender-based violence and promote reproductive health by mentoring and guiding student volunteers.

Dr Felix Kodzo Besah, Mls.D, PhD, FWAPCMLS
Registrar
Dr. Felix Kodzo Besah Sorvor serves as the National Laboratory Focal Person for Ghana's National Tuberculosis (TB) Control Programme. He is widely recognized for his leadership in public health, laboratory diagnostics, and advocacy for medical professionals in Ghana.

Dr Dennis Adu-Gyasi, Mls.D, FWAPCMLS
Treasurer
Dr. Dennis Adu-Gyasi is a Consultant Medical Laboratory Scientist in Immunology and Health Research Fellow. He serves as the Deputy Chief Medical Laboratory Scientist and acting Laboratory Manager at the Kintampo Health Research Centre (KHRC) in Ghana. He is widely recognized for his public health leadership and institutional contributions toward bringing the landmark RTS,S Malaria vaccine to fruition.
